A Remarkable Six-Week Achievement
What started as a dream inspired by gratitude has become a remarkable reality.
Just six weeks ago, Rosemary Dittmer and I set ourselves a goal that many thought would take months to achieve: crocheting 400 beanies and 100 Crochet Knockers for cancer patients in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2026.
Today, we are thrilled to share that we have reached a major milestone.
400 Beanies Completed!
Using the beautiful natural fibre yarns from the Pianna Yarns DUO and SOLOIST collections, we have completed all 400 crochet beanies. Knowing that these beanies are made from soft bamboo and cotton fibres makes the achievement even more meaningful, as comfort was one of our highest priorities for patients undergoing chemotherapy and other cancer treatments.
We are incredibly proud of what has been accomplished in such a short period of time. Every beanie was made with love, hope, and the desire to bring comfort to someone facing one of life’s toughest challenges.
20 Pairs of Crochet Knockers Finished
We are equally delighted to announce the completion of 20 pairs of Crochet Knockers. While we have not yet reached our original target, each completed pair represents an opportunity to help restore comfort, confidence, and dignity to a breast cancer survivor.
Knowing that these handmade items may make someone’s daily life a little easier is a reward beyond measure.
A Gift of Kindness
Along this journey, we received an unexpected and generous blessing. An anonymous donor sponsored 20 Knitted Knockers kits, and we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for this contribution.
Acts of kindness such as this remind us that community support comes in many forms and that together we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
More Than Crochet
This project has never been just about yarn, hooks, and patterns. It has been about celebrating life, giving back, and sharing hope.
For Rosemary, who is currently in remission, every completed item is a reminder of how precious life is and how important it is to support others who are still walking their own cancer journey.
As we continue preparing for our visit to Cape Town later this year, we are filled with excitement knowing that soon these handmade gifts will find their way into the hands of the people for whom they were created.
To everyone who has encouraged, supported, and followed our journey—thank you. Your kindness has been woven into every stitch.
Together, we have created more than beanies and knockers. We have created comfort, hope, and a reminder that no cancer patient walks alone. 💗
Made with love using Pianna Yarns’ DUO and SOLOIST natural fibre collections.
