This November, in honor of World Prematurity Day on 17 November, our dedicated group of crochet ladies is coming together to celebrate the strength and resilience of premature babies. Through our project, Preemie Beanies for Tembisa, we aim to bring warmth and comfort to newborns at Tembisa Hospital in Kempton Park, one tiny hat at a time.

Our crochet group is more than just a gathering of talented women—it’s a sisterhood built on compassion. Each member contributes her time, skill, and heart to create soft, cozy beanies specially designed for premature babies. These little hats help regulate body temperature and offer a gentle touch of comfort during a critical time in a newborn’s life.
What started as a small idea has grown into a meaningful movement. Together, we’ve crocheted dozens of beanies, and our goal is to hand over a generous batch to Tembisa Hospital during the course of November, in celebration of Preemie Month.
